Govt. mourns loss of 187 people in Afghan avalanche

The Foreign Ministry in a statement yesterday said the Government and people of Sri Lanka were deeply saddened by the loss of over 187 lives, injury to over 129 people and damage to property resulting from the deadly avalanches that occurred on 26 February in the Panjshir, Nuristan and Badakhshan Provinces.
Sri Lanka extends its deepest condolences to the families of those bereaved, wishes the injured a speedy recovery and expresses confidence that those affected would rebuild their lives through the inherent courage and resilience of the Afghan people, the statement added.
