Commonwealth Secretary-General calls on President ahead of CHOGM

Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat last morning (11). “We are here to make your CHOGM a great su ccess,” Sharma told President Rajapaksa. The delegations from the Commonwealth Secretariat and Sri Lanka that joined the Secretary-General and the President for the meeting discussed the final arrangements for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2013 taking place in Colombo this week. Deputy Secretary-General Mmasekgoa Masiri-Mwamba, Director of the Office of the Secretary-General Simon Gimson, Director of the Political Affairs Division Amitav Banerji and the Director of the Communications and Public Affairs Division and Commonwealth Spokesperson Richard Uku accompanied Sharma. Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Karunatillake Amunugama and Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information Dr. Charitha Herath were present for the meeting.
