President Mahinda Rajapaksa hosted a lunch for Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni when he stopped over in Sri Lanka yesterday (4) en route from a trip to East Asia. The two nations share warm relations, with their leaders having visited each other’s countries more than once.
President Rajapaksa made his second official visit to Uganda last month. He first went in 2007 for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). President Museveni made his first visit to Sri Lanka last year in November.
At yesterday’s meeting, the two heads of state spoke about maintaining the strong ties the two nations have developed over the years.
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy Susil Premajayantha, Deputy Minister of External Affairs Neomal Perera, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and the Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Prasanna Wickramasuriya were also present.
