A straw of normalcy

Following weeks of floods, the farmers of Vavuniya who were the hardest hit have started harvesting the remainder of the paddy that escaped the deluge.

According to Government estimates, a total of 12,000 hectares were destroyed in the north and east, consisting of over 4,800 hectares in Vavuniya, 3,000 hectares in Kilinochchi, 1,500 in Mullaitivu, 2,500 in Mannar and 32 in Jaffna – Pic by Romesh Madushanka
