521 receive degrees and diplomas at 2014 IPM graduation ceremony

The Institute of Personnel Management – the nation’s leader in human resource management – held its 2014 graduation ceremony on 28 October at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) under the distinguished patronage of Deputy Minister of Education and Monitoring MP for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Mohan Lal Grero and other invitees.
A total of 521 students received their degrees and diplomas at the ceremony which was held under the theme of ‘Diamonds that Sparkle with Potential’ signifying the value that the graduates and diploma holders will bring to the field of human resources management in Sri Lanka with the knowledge – both academic as well as practical – gained through the preferred courses of study at IPM which included the Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management, National Diploma in Training & HR Development and the National Diploma in Training & Development.
“The graduation ceremony was not only be an occasion for celebration for the students but it also marked the culmination of all the hard work, dedication and commitment demonstrated by them in earning their degrees and diplomas,” said Rohitha Amarapala, President of IPM.
The event also was an opportunity for the students to celebrate their crowning moments while acknowledging and thanking their family, friends, teachers and mentors who supported them in their academic journey.
IPM produces high quality professionals – from students to current managers, through an array of professional study programmes, thereby making an indelible name for itself in the arena of professional education in human resource management.
IPM was incorporated by Act No. 24 of Parliament in the year 1976 as a professional educational institution. IPM’s founding vision in 1959 was to nurture and develop the personnel management profession which, in keeping with the requirements of the 21st century has now been expanded to be the guiding force and leader in developing best people management practices in the Asian region.
IPM is a member of the Organization of Professional Associations in Sri Lanka, as well as a member of the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management through which it is affiliated to the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA).
IPM is governed by an elected Council headed by the President. Under the direction of the Council, the functions and activities of the Institute are performed by the respective standing committees, the Secretariat and the Business School which are manned by permanent staff.
IPM offers constantly revised and up-to-date syllabi to its members and students, as well as a host of guest lectures, consisting of seminars and workshops organised by other professional institutes, some of which are priced at zero cost while others are offered at concessionary rates. IPM also awards internship opportunities to students, in esteemed multinational companies via the newly implemented Internship Program.
Adding further credence as the nation’s leader in human resources management, IPM has expanded its educational activities from the iconic HR House in Colombo 5, which houses state-of-the-art facilities including lecture halls, a fully equipped auditorium, library with books and magazines from various disciplines ranging from management, marketing and HR – to Kandy, Galle, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Negombo and Jaffna.
