2014 Budget-happy exporters say thank you to president

Several organisations representing exporters met President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday and expressed their gratitude for heeding their requests and accommodating several supportive measures in the 2014 Budget presented on 21 November. They included introducing a proposal to regulate the imposition of the Terminal Handling Charge (THC) on export containers, support for acquisition of global brands, research and development, and value addition on tea. The Joint Apparel Associations Forum, National Chamber of Exporters and Exporters Association of Sri Lanka as well as tea exporters attended the meeting, whilst Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and Finance Secretary Dr. P.B.
