13 Lankans, 26 entries to roar at 60th Cannes Lions festival

Each year, around 11,000 members of the global creative communications industries come together to be inspired and educated at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the world’s greatest celebration of creative communications in all its forms.

Over seven days, from 16-22 June 2013, the whole creative industry will meet at Cannes, France to learn from the best and celebrate the work changing the communications landscape.

This year marks a momentous year as the world’s most recognised advertising festival marks 60 years of inspiring creativity. With a record of 35,765 entries from 92 countries submitted to the Cannes Lions 60th International Festival of Creativity, this time the benchmark has been set higher.

This year 13 Sri Lankans representing six agencies will be flying from Sri Lanka to attend the 60th Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.

There are also a total of 26 entries submitted to the competition from Sri Lanka.

Since 1954, the Cannes Lions Awards have set the benchmark for excellence in creative communications.

Cannes Lions will feature hundreds of experts from diverse fields ranging from music and photography to architecture and the communication industry, discussing creativity in all its forms and expressions.

The backbone of the learning program at Cannes Lions – the seminars – will feature more than 50 keynote presentations and speakers from the likes of Arianna Huffington (President, Huffington Post), Robert Kyncl  (Vice President, Google) and Jenson Button  (Formula 1 Driver, McLaren).

Delegates will also have more than 20 practical, skill-based sessions to learn from and will be able to attend forums offering a unique way for delegates to get in-depth insight into key industry issues.

The highlight of the whole festival will be the awards ceremonies for the 16 different awards categories: Branded Content & Entertainment, Creative Effectiveness, Cyber, Design, Direct, Film, Film Craft, Media, Mobile, Outdoor, PR, Press, Promo & Activation, Radio, Titanium and Integrated and the new Innovation Lions categories.
