Turkish Airlines has launched its first flight between Istanbul and Conakry.
With this new addition, Turkish Airlines has expanded its network to 51 destinations on the continent where it is has the largest coverage number of destinations among all carriers. It is thereby cementing its position as the carrier that flies to more countries than any other airline, with 296 destinations in 120 countries.
Conakry joins a widening destination portfolio in West Africa that include city-hubs of Accra, Abuja, Bamako, Dakar, Abidjan, Cotonou, Douala, Yaounde, N’Djamena, Ougadougou and Niamey.
The service will provide a link between Istanbul Atatürk Airport and the Conakry International Airport via Ouagadougou. The return flight will give passengers departing Guinea access to top global destinations such as London, Dubai, Paris, Frankfurt, Muscat, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Brussels, Berlin, Amsterdam, Vienna, Asmara, Hamburg, Tel-Aviv, Düsseldorf and Milano.
Flight TK 537 is available twice weekly as of 30 January.
Commenting on the launch Ahmet Olmuştur, Chief Marketing Officer of Turkish Airlines, said: “Our entry into the Conakry route is a testimony of our faith in the Guinean people and economy. This milestone strengthens the position of our airline as the one that flies to more countries than any other air carrier globally.”
Established in 1933 with a fleet of five aircraft, Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is a 4-star airline today with a fleet of 333 (passenger and cargo) aircraft flying to 296 destinations worldwide with 247 international and 49 domestic. According to the 2016 Skytrax survey, Turkish Airlines was chosen as “Europe’s Best Airline” for the sixth and “Best Airline in Southern Europe” for the eighth consecutive time.
Having won in 2010 the world’s “Best Economy Catering Service”, in 2013 and also in 2014 the world’s “Best Business Catering Service”, and “Best Business Class Lounge Dining”, “Best Business Airline Lounge” awards in last year’s survey, Turkish Airlines was awarded again the world’s “Best Business Class Dining Lounge” and “Best Business Class On-Board Catering” prizes in this year’s survey.
