Tourist enjoys Shanghai on $ 20 a day

Reuters: Budget-minded tourists can enjoy China’s most expensive city for less than $ 20 a day, according to a young travel blogger’s video.

Kevin Cook and his friend, Curtis Good, filmed their visit to the city on 4 April for Cook’s travel blog. The video shows Cook enjoying his day eating local traditional food, riding the subway to popular commercial centres, and finding a hostel to stay overnight.

Cook told Reuters he was impressed by the friendliness of Shanghai’s residents, stating almost everyone was happy to be filmed by him.

Cook planned his ongoing $ 20 Travelling series after making the decision that he wanted to spend more time seeing the world. He hopes his blog, found at www.monkeyabroad.com, will encourage people without a lot of money to spend their holidays abroad.

The video has gathered over 15,000 views since it was uploaded to YouTube on 5 April.
