Tillak Wickramasinghe, the Proprietor of Skyways was elected as the President of the IATA Agents Association of Sri Lanka (IATA-AASL).
He was elected for the post, during the 28th Annual General Meeting of the IATA Agents Association of Sri Lanka (IATA-AASL), which was held on 26 May in Nairobi, Kenya.
Apart from Wickramsinghe’s election as President for the year 2016/2017 period, Channe Wijemanne, Director/Chief Executive Officer of George Steuarts Travels Ltd. was also elected as the Vice President.
In the meantime, the following persons were elected to the Executive Council of IATA-AASL for the period of 2016/17 and those are Aitken Spence Travels Ltd. General Manager Nishantha Senaveratne, Classic Travels Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Suresh Mendis, Delair Travels Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Rajiv Guruswamy, Gabo Travels Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Faris Deen, Hayleys Travels & Tours Ltd. Manager Niranjan Dalpethado, Hemas Travels Ltd. Director/General Manager Riza Ahamat, Travel 7 Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Trevor Rajaratnam, Lando Travels Ltd. Managing Director M.L.C. Fernando, Skymark Travels Ltd. Managing Partner Rimzi Nazeer, 02nd Chance Travels Ltd. Managing Director Duminda Lowe, The Traveller Global Ltd. Chairman/ Managing Director Rizmi Reyal, Travel World Ltd. Managing Director Saman Premakumara and Himpras Tours Ltd. Managing Director Jude Condrad as the Immediate Past President.
IATA-AASL was formed in 1988 as a body to represent the interests of the Sri Lankan Travel Agencies accredited by the International Air Transport Association.
At present, IATA Agents Association of Sri Lanka has a membership of 117.
The AGM was followed by cocktails and a dinner reception at the Hilton Nairobi with the presence of the sponsors M/s Amadeus Lanka Ltd., Qatar Airways and Asian Alliance General Insurance Ltd.
