Sunimal appointed to John Keells Hotels Board

Leisure industry specialist Sunimal Senanayake has been appointed to the Board of John Keells Hotels Plc.

He is currently the Executive Vice President and Head of the Maldivian Resorts Sector of JKH and a member of the John Keells Group Operating Committee.

Sunimal has over 30 years experience in the hospitality industry both in hotels and in-bound tourism. He served as the Managing Director of Walkers Tours Ltd., from 1991 to 1997 and held many senior operational and management positions at John Keells Holdings Plc. He moved on as Director Business Development at the Mt. Lavinia Hotel in 1997 and served as a Director and Head of Marketing of Aitken Spence Hotel Management Ltd. Thereafter he rejoined John Keells Group in 2005 as Head of Strategy and Human Resources of the Leisure Group.

He is a past president of the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) and has held many positions in travel trade related associations and committees. He has also been a member of the Tourist Hotels Classification Committee and Chairman/Member of the Advisory Board of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management.

Following the appointment of Sunimal the Board of Directors of John Keells Hotels Plc comprises S.C. Ratnayake (Chairman), A.D. Gunewardene, J.R.F. Peiris, J.E.P. Kehelpannala, R.T. Wijesinha, M.A. Omar, D.A. Cabraal, N.B. Weerasekera and S. Senanayake
