National Carrier SriLankan Airlines awarded Platinum membership for five lucky FlySmiLes members, chosen at the ‘Win Platinum’ campaign, at the Colombo Courtyard, recently.
The campaign was launched to coincide with SriLankan’s first anniversary as a oneworld member and was open to new and existing FlySmiLes members in Sri Lanka, Maldives and India which are considered home markets for SriLankan in the oneworld alliance. It was aimed at providing an opportunity for FlySmiLes members in these markets to win a Platinum card to enjoy the privileges of SriLankan’s top most tier status.
SriLankan Airlines with oneworld serves more than a 1,000 airports in 155 countries with 14,250 daily departures and member airlines working together to deliver consistently a superior, seamless travel experience. A FlySmiLes Platinum member is entitled to a host of luxury privileges including earning and redeeming miles across the entire alliance’s network, priority travel benefits, extra baggage allowances and access to over 550 First and Business Class lounges when travelling on SriLankan Airlines or any oneworld member airline.
One of the winners, Prof. Allen Jabez Sudhakar Victor from Chennai, expressing his sentiments on winning a Platinum Card said, “I have been flying with the airline since 1998, and it has been a long and memorable association with SriLankan. It has been the same for my family, with my father having travelled on Air Ceylon years ago. SriLankan Airlines is about its people, the natural warmth and exuberance of the staff that has made each flight a special one for me, so we will continue to fly SriLankan as much as we can.”
The second winner, Ibrahim Majid, an employee of the Maldivian government’s monetary authority said, “I have not been to Sri Lanka at all except when transiting in Colombo en- route to Bangkok, and this is a trip I make with my friends at least twice a year, but each time I flew on SriLankan the service and overall in-flight experience has been very good. So I am delighted to have won this membership with all its privileges, since I had only randomly entered the draw in the first place.”
Melanie Gray, a designer by profession and currently employed at Brandix said, “I have been a FlySmiLes member for three years now and have chosen to fly SriLankan on most of my leisure trips abroad especially to Japan and Bangkok. I consider it a great honour and a privilege to have been selected a Platinum Member.”
E3X CEO Dr. Amila Kankanamge, winning the Platinum status said, “I have been a member of SriLankan’s frequent flyer program since the year 2000 which is when I started flying with the airline and we always enjoy the friendly service on board and make it a point to purchase from the variety of duty free products. The Platinum membership will certainly encourage me to travel even more and avail myself of the great benefits on offer and moreover it would challenge my wife who is also a member to travel even more to earn herself the platinum card!”
