Sri Lanka Tourism has ventured in to test ‘event based marketing’ in the natural-based area of Trinco/Nilaveli.
Branded ‘Live Trinco,’ the three-day event featured a diversified product range of underwater photography with world-renowned National Geographic photographer David Fleethem who was showcased comparisons made with different underwater species whilst the nature personality Asher Jay presented her passion on wildlife conservation which intrigued the foreigners.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman Dr. Rohantha Athukorala said foreigners who attended the festival made a statement how “untouched” Trincomalee is and they enjoy “less tourism”. That is part of the reason they came to Trinco.
“The rave party featuring Dinka, a Swiss born house act, was a highlight among youngsters of the event who was very popular among tourists joining the party till the wee hours of the morning. The festival incorporated other informative sessions from popular local writers and ship wreck diving specific to Trincomalee which was an interesting dimension that we must develop for the future,” he said.
