Sri Lanka Tourism all set to participate in UK trade road show

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau will be hosting a number of road shows for 2016, which will be a great opportunity for   both local and international travel agents. 

The Roadshows will be held in Manchester, Birmingham and London, bringing Sri Lanka’s prestige and glory as a popular tourist destination, as well as the latest news and selling tips for this increasingly popular destination to the travel trade.  These road shows will be held in parallel to the  World Travel Market, (WTM)   which is one of the leading global events in the Travel   and Tourism Trade,  attracting more than 35,000 visitors , 5000 exhibitors  and around 2000 travel agents , including 200 tour operators , in which Sri Lanka will also be a participant.  Sri Lanka Tourism recorded a total of 1.7 million arrivals in 2015, an increase of 17.8 % over 2014.  UK is the third largest source market behind India and China with 161,845 visitors in 2015, 12.3 % up on 2014.  The UK residents will have a rare chance of exploring the cultural wonder of Sri Lanka. 

 ‘’The road show was developed to  strengthen  the relations  with the UK  travel trade , and show  travel agents the impressive  range of experiences that Sri Lanka has to  offer,” said P. M Withana, Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. 

The road show will further provide knowledge to agents for them to get a better idea of the destination and its scenic beauty and historic places, with so much to explore. Agents will be able to understand the importance of Sri Lanka as a global destination its uniqueness as an island, the diversity and also the latest destination information, selling tips and  also having the opportunity of meeting over 25 local suppliers, including DMC’s , hotels and domestic airlines. 

 The participants will also experience a taste of this magical destination with a traditional tea ceremony with candle lighting and indulge in delicious Sri Lankan cuisine.   They will also have a rare chance of winning two fantastic 7 night holidays for two people, which of course will be a nice surprise.  Sri Lanka Tourism has invited all the Trade Media in these cities to participate in this event.
