Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) with the support of the Sri Lanka High commission in Malaysia participated in the MATTA Travel and Tourism Exhibition from 2 to 4 September in Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia.
The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is regarded as Malaysia’s largest outbound fair attracting over 100,000 visitors nationally and globally. The event was organised by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and supported by the Tourism Authority of Malaysia. This is one of the major events in the Malaysian tourism calendar.
The SLTPB booth at MATTA Fair showcased the rich cultural heritage and tourist attractions of Sri Lanka. The Booth which was organised by the SLTPB became one of the main attractions of those who visited the fair. It was organised with the participation of 12 industry stakeholders.
The colourful and attractive designing of the booth and its creativity highlighted it specifically among the other stalls. The stand depicted eight themes which were Pristine, Essence, Heritage, Wild, Thrills, Heritage, Festivals and Bliss, highlighting main tourist attractions of the island which represents its natural and tropical beauty. These elements not only showcase the characteristics of the island but also the iconic name which Sri Lanka is reputed for ‘The Pearl of the Indian Ocean’.
The Sri Lanka pavilion was ceremonially opened by Minister of Primary Industries Daya Gamage on 2 September along with the Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Ibrahim Sahib Ansar by the lighting of the traditional oil lamp to specify Sri Lankan tradition.
Sri Lanka Tourism was represented by Assistant Director Marketing Chami Gasnawage. Sri Lanka’s participation at the fair not only gives an opportunity to enhance the tourism sector in the country, but also marks its name as a popular destination for tourists get an experience which they will remember for quite some time.
