With the completion of the first phase of its renovation that commenced in March 2013, Alhambra Ltd., the owners and operators of Ramada Colombo, now present 94 modernised rooms with superior design features and the smartest of room technology. As a member of the Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest hotel chain with over 7400 properties spread across 67 countries, this four-star smart-luxury accommodation is unveiled to satisfy a new breed of global travellers for whom business and leisure converge. The complete renovation encompasses an investment outlay of Rs. 900 million whilst for the rooms a component of Rs. 400 million is already incurred. Director Operations M. Shanthikumar said: “With the launch of the new rooms, the hotel will continue its thrust in renovating other guest spaces such as the public areas, restaurants and banqueting facilities.” This second phase of the renovation has been temporarily deferred to accommodate the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and will now commence to March 2014. This transformation will include the ceiling of the lobby being elevated to create an impressively enhanced sense of space whilst the reception will be strategically relocated for guest convenience. Swank interiors The revamped restaurants and bar will showcase swank interiors with a café offering the option of alfresco dining, whilst banqueting will benefit from both artistic enhancements as well as the addition of two more guest elevators. Of the already completed rooms, Shanthikumar added: “Having the largest square foot area per room of any city hotel has allowed for the crafting of interiors with a distinct layout.” The rooms feature superior levels of comfort with large beds, luxury linen, a separate seating area and are also coupled with worldly style in elements of mood lighting and soothing tones of colour. A 42 inch LED TV screen, an ergonomically designed work desk and chair and high speed Wifi connectivity are more of the add-ons. The bathroom, a pocket of luxury in itself, features a bath tub and a separate shower cubicle fitted with a rain shower and premium amenities too. Cutting edge Shanthikumar elaborated: “The new rooms at Ramada Colombo go well beyond the showcasing of modern elegance. Cutting edge IPTV facilities offering multimedia streaming and interactive guest information systems that drive ultimate guest experiences are at the core of our concept.” Video on demand, web radio, ordering of services from in-room dining to a hotel cab, viewing your bill summary and an online guest directory are just some of these features. Available at the touch of a button, this technology will also offer the unique advantage of integration with the latest mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets and laptops. As part of the hotels values of equality and in keeping with international standards, select rooms are designed entirely for differently-abled persons as are aspects of all public areas. Additionally, eco-friendly processes are enabled from efficient utilisation of resources to effective waste management. In keeping with this renovation, Ramada Colombo also implements new service concepts for thoughtful contact at every guest touch point. With Sri Lanka finding her worthy place in the competitive global sphere of tourism, Ramada Colombo will now stand strong against the finest global properties of its class.
