To cater to the growing need of destination marketing through digital avenues and capture the attention of modern day travellers towards Sri Lankan destinations, ANC Omega Ltd., the local partner for the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, Dubai took the initiative and invited Akvile Pareigyte who is a regional Google trainer as well as a digital evangelist, to Sri Lanka to work on an innovative project under the guidance of Sri Lanka’s Tourism Promotions Bureau and its Managing Director Sutheash Balasubramaniam, who believes in marketing Sri Lanka digitally and in a multilingual web presence to reach beyond traditional market. Balasubramaniam has been a pioneer in the Sri Lankan corporate sector, holding many positions in blue-chip companies such as the Hayleys Group has taken the key leading role introducing multidimensional approach to enhance Sri Lanka tourism to international market. The training was highly customised with prior discussions and customisations done with the collaboration of the Managing Director and the Emirates Academy digital evangelist. Topic of the workshop was ‘New era of digital marketing, position key attributes of Sri Lanka through digital innovation’. The main aim of this personalised workshop was to enlighten the elite staff – directors, marketing and promotion key stakeholders of the Tourism Promotion Bureau to explore competitive edge through integrated multichannel marketing strategy to promote Sri Lanka.

Omega Global Director Sudesh Kolonne added that the challenge is to implement unique digital marketing campaign acknowledging ever changing – growing digital avenues and continues with multichannel marketing strategy. Emphasis were place on exploring avenues and global best practices from Emirates Academy to target traditional market such Russia, Eastern Europe and ever booming competitive China.
