Oman Air takes off to Nairobi

01On 6 April, Oman Air, the national carrier of the sultanate of Oman, launched its new four times weekly flight from Muscat to the Kenyan capital of Nairobi; the latest move in the airline’s ambitious and dynamic program of fleet and network expansion. 

Saeed Bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Transport and Communication for Ports and Maritime Affairs joined the Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer of Oman Air, Abdulrahman Al Busaidy and other dignitaries in a cake cutting ceremony at Muscat International Airport, to celebrate the inaugural flight.    

The five hours flight operated by a Boeing 737-800 departs Muscat at 1450 and arrives in Nairobi at 1855, leaving on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.  From Nairobi, the flights will depart on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, leaving at 0045 and arriving in Muscat at 0650.

The new Oman Air route to the Kenyan capital Nairobi is a significant development for both countries. Trade between Kenya and Oman has been growing steadily over the years and the new flight will facilitate the increase in bilateral trade and investment opportunities.    

Oman Air’s recent expansion has included the delivery of new aircraft and the introduction of a range of exciting new destinations, new products and services which contribute to a seamless passenger experience. The airline continues to be recognised for its award winning on board experience; winning a raft of industry awards in 2016 to add to its growing collection.
