When music became a competition, we saw more than just singing, it became a lifestyle with much of viewer participation and hype. Cooking competitions brought forth more than just recipes, but creativity and passion for taste and the desire to be exceptional.
As a widely followed fad that photography has become, ‘National Geographic mission cover shot’ will be the first ever photography based reality show.
The elimination round of this event is being held in Sri Lanka and will be continuing across the next couple of weeks. The contestants will compete in a variety of photo challenges that would test their photographic excellence on ground, in the air, from a cliff or through water.
Eight aspiring photographers will compete for the ultimate title of ‘Natgeo’s mission cover shot’ photographer.
The spokesperson for the production team commented on the event saying, “These amateur photographers will embark on a series of photo shoots meant to challenge their creativity.
“They will have to face daunting tasks and obstacles that will test their talent and desire to be Natgeo’s first ever ‘mission cover shot’ photographer.”
Cinnamon hotels and resorts are proud to be the key hospitality partner for this milestone event in the history of Sri Lankan tourism. It is expected to generate over 450 minutes of airtime, telecasted over 10 consecutive weeks in the peak hours of Nat geo, giving much publicity and viewer-ship to Sri Lanka as a destination.
This will be the highest level of exposure Sri Lanka has received from a TV channel. It focuses on promoting the key tourist attractions in the country, such as Sigirya, elephant orphanage, Galle Fort, Pollonnaruwa, Adams peak amongst others.
Cinnamon resorts which are strategically situated in the country are providing the accommodation for the Indian crew including the two celebrity judges and anchor, who are Ami Vitale, Nagesh Kukunoor and Shibani Dandekar respectively.
In assisting these amateur photographers to capture the most unique and creative pictures, we have organised unique ‘Cinnamon’ experiences for the participants.
These include the food challenge at Nugagama Cinnamon Grand, primate trail Habarana, Marshall Arts Habarana and Leopard experience Yala, just to name a few.
“Photography is known to hold the power of telling stories through images, and this competition is all about sourcing great inspiration and encouraging people to visit the Island” John Keells Holdings Deputy Chairman Ajit Gunewardene added.
This is yet another occasion that Cinnamon hotels and resorts have spearheaded towards its vision of being the trendsetter in the hospitality industry.
It is anticipated that the pictures taken will portray more than just a picture, but tell a story that is distinctively Sri Lankan encapsulating the true essence of Cinnamon.
