Mihin Lanka recently flew South Indian film star Mirchi Siva, along with 200 other passengers on the airline’s inaugural flight from Colombo to Chennai. Mirchi Siva has been featured in many Tamil films and comedies and is also a renowned radio jockey in India.
In Colombo, all the passengers were served Indian sweets at the check-in counter and traditional kumkum powder was sprinkled before they entered the boarding gate. The passengers expressed their appreciation for the traditional ceremony which was organised for them on their departure and they were also delighted by the warm welcome that they received from the ground crew on their arrival in Chennai.
Mihin Lanka operates three flights per week to Chennai and plans to increase this flight frequency to five flights per week in November 2015. Mihin Lanka also flies to Gaya, Varanasi, Madurai and Kolkata in India and was ranked by Skytrax as the third best low-cost airline in Central Asia and India.
Today, the airline is recognised as one of the region’s most admired affordable travel brands and now offers direct flights to 12 key destinations in the region, which service corporate, business, pilgrim, and leisure travellers.
