Surrounded by close friends, well-wishers, and representatives of the media, Jetwing Hotels launched another first in the Sri Lankan hospitality industry – the launch of a brand dedicated to select service, no frills accommodation: Hotel J.
The first property under the brand is situated in Negombo, and the event more than lived up to the brand’s vibrant features, being an extravaganza of colour set in an informal environment. Graced by the presence of Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, the festivities began with an eclectic selection of bright cocktails served in specially designed mini-shakers, and moved on to a sumptuous dinner.
Featuring 35 rooms inclusive of a suite, Hotel J Negombo will be soon followed by properties in other tourist hotspots such as Passikudah and Nuwara Eliya. The concept of select service accommodation is new to the Sri Lankan market, and rooms at Hotel J Negombo range upwards of $ 37 per night.
Backed by the renowned Jetwing reputation for traditional hospitality in a star class environment, Hotel J is a fresh look at an often overlooked concept, and offers quality accommodation and value-for-money features. The rooms are designed to provide a comfortable stay, and for the most part offer unbeatable views of the Indian Ocean – extremely beautiful ones from the rooftop area known as Sky J.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of Jetwing Hiran Cooray expressed his thoughts on the new brand: “In all my travels over the world, I have stayed in a variety of hotels. Quite often, I have noticed that some of my best experiences have been in the places that people often overlook – you don’t all the frills that come with a 5-star hotel room, as most visitors usually look for a clean environment from where to travel into a country. Hotel J has the advantage of being backed by Jetwing Hotels, as we have been in the life of hospitality for the past 40 years, and our core has always remained the same – an offering of passion, humility, tenacity and integrity. Introducing the concept to Sri Lanka is something I have wanted to achieve for some time now, and I look forward to furthering the brand of Hotel J within the country.”
Family owned and in the tourism industry for the past 40 years, Jetwing Hotels has surpassed expectation at every aspect. Building on their foundation of being passionate, as well as the experience of true, traditional Sri Lankan hospitality, constantly pioneering discoveries captures the essence of the brand. Such a strong statement and direction have enabled Jetwing Hotels to imagine, create and manage marvels and masterpieces, where distinctive design and elegant comfort complement each other and the environment.
