Herald in the season with Waters Edge

With the dawn of Christmas, as festivities reach its peak, Waters Edge comes alive to bring back many nostalgic family traditions for the Christmas week. 

To gear up for the celebrations, the Edge clothes itself in colourful baubles this year. First invented by German Hans Greiner, baubles have a history that goes back to the 1840s. Initially reserved only for the wealthy, these baubles soon reached popularity and can be found adorning the pathway leading up to the hotel, walls and hallways of the Waters Edge this year.

Santa Claus made an appearance this year via seaplane as Water Edge opened doors to hundreds of kids at the Elves Kingdom; the largest Kiddies’ Christmas Party in Colombo on 10 December. 

Mrs. Claus is also making an early appearance this season, bringing with her traditional Christmas goodies to Sri Lanka’s only drive-through bakery “The Bakery on the Edge”. Mouth-watering treats such as Christmas Stollen, Christmas Breudher, Gingerbread Cookies and Seasonal cupcakes will be available at the bakery. Freshly roasted turkey with all its traditional trimmings and oven-roasted meats such as Honey-roast Glazed Ham, Cold Roast Chicken, English Gammon and Roasted Tom Turkey are also made-to-order. 

This year, Waters Edge will host special seasonal high tea with a large spread of hors d’oeuvres, deserts and traditional Christmas goodies on 23 and 24 December.

Come Christmas Eve families will gather at Waters Edge to herald in Christmas with a gala dinner accompanied by traditional Christmas rhythms in the background from 7:30pm onwards. 

The 25th being a Sunday this year, Christmas brunch which will kick off at 11:30am, and will feature an extensive menu of all-time favourite goodies with special treats for the young ones followed by Christmas dinner from 7:30pm onwards featuring the longest dessert buffet in Sri Lanka. 

The festivities will continue Boxing Day for when you need to take a well-deserved rest with family and friends with dinner at 7:30pm.

These special events and promotions come wrapped with the inherent hospitality and service standards that are synonymous with the Waters Edge.
