Harpo’s Hotel School, Galle branch has continuously promoted the F&B service and culinary arts courses to students through the gracious support of Berendina NGO. Their mission is to provide livelihood to marginalised rural communities and assist youth to find productive employment and support with vocational training for the (Samurdhi) low income families island wide. This ideally supports the HSHTM vision to give these students the education which offers them the opportunity to be employed in the hotel industry, which is in great need of qualified staff.
A batch of 22 such students completed their basic level F&B service and culinary arts courses and some have already been employed at the resort hotels.
At the certificate representation held at the Galle branch HSHTM MD Harpo reiterated to the students the importance of continuing their vocation in the chosen field and also encouraged them to make a profession out of it by taking the opportunity given by Berendina. Harpo also offered them employment at Harpo’s Cafes & Restaurants.
Also present at the event was Berendina NGO Regional Manager Jayatissa Manamperi along with Coordinator Galle Branch Asela Wijethunga.
