Green Globe expanding its global presence

Since its launch in 1994, the Green Globe brand has represented the international standard for environmental responsibilityto the hospitality and tourism industry. As more and more tourists seek to minimse their environmental impact and search for environmentally friendly properties, effective authentication is a key consideration.

Despite the emergence of hundreds of local standards, only Green Globe can provide the assurance of a global and consistent international certification system. Through its recent expansion, it is now able to offer this service across 83 countries worldwide, including Sri Lanka.

Based in Los Angeles, California and with partners and auditors across the world Green Globe offers certification for sustainable operations and management of travel and tourism companies and their related supplier businesses.

The Green Globe Certification Standard is based on internationally accepted criteria developed during the many years of the Green Globe programme. Green Globe Certification is active in harmonising with other established sustainability certification programmes around the world. The process of harmonisation contributes to maintaining core criteria and at the same time address regional issues through the adoption of locally developed standards.
