Flydubai said its inaugural flight to the Armenian capital, Yerevan, touched down on Sunday afternoon, making it the 25th operational route for Dubai’s budget airline.
The airline will initially operate two flights a week and then increase it to three weekly flights from 15 December, said a statement from Flydubai.
Flight FZ715 will take off from Dubai at 10.10am, arriving in the Armenian capital at 1.35pm (local time). The return service FZ716 will leave Yerevan at 2.20pm and touch down at Dubai airport at 05.25pm (local time), it added.
The ticket rates from Dubai to Yerevan start at Dh590 ($160.6) and a one-way flight prices from Yerevan begin at $190.
Flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said: “Yerevan is another fascinating destination that has been added to the flydubai route network; it’s a route that once again underlines flydubai’s expansion, offering passengers somewhere new to visit and to explore.”
“This is what flydubai is about. By offering a diverse choice of destinations, we encourage people to travel more often, to a wider range of places,” he remarked.
“Destinations like Yerevan offer both leisure and business opportunities that don’t always immediately spring to mind, but with flydubai services we aim to help people discover these,” he said.
The picturesque city is set to the spectacular backdrop of Mount Ararat, and is full of history and culture as well as a modern streak that is flourishing with the influx of international and major Armenian business.
As flydubai’s 25th operational route, Yerevan marks another milestone in the growth of the airline, and a thriving and intriguing city such as Armenia’s capital is a fitting destination for this, reinforcing the values and aims of flydubai.
