Republic of Estonia’s Foreign Minister Urmas Paet has invited Sri Lanka’s tourism authorities to promote Sri Lanka in Estonia in view of the island’s natural and scenic attractions. The Estonian Foreign Minister said this when he met Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa at his Ministry last week. This is the first time a high level Estonian delegation arrived in this country.
Estonia holds a tourism promotion exhibition in the Estonian capital, Tallnin, in the second week of February every year with the participation of a number of different tourism organisations, according to Foreign Minister Urmas Paet.
He extended an invitation to Sri Lanka to attend this year’s exhibition at Tallnin. Paet further said that he was able to clear misconceptions he had about Sri Lanka during this visit and invited the Sri Lankan private sector to invest in his country.
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa told the Estonian Foreign Minister that Sri Lanka’s economy and tourism today have reached high levels of progress. Industry and Commerce Ministry Secretary Anura Siriwardene and other high officials also participated in the meeting.
