We strive to maintain the best service ethic, and this accolade is a clear indicator of the positive response that we have received. There is a strong sense of pride in ensuring that the guests get the best experience, and this underscores the efforts we have made.”
Coral Sands Hotel, which was opened in 1974, has been in operation for almost 40 years. Having started from very humble beginnings of being just a caravan park, the hotel has transformed into an 82-room, star-quality resort with the pristine beaches at the doorstep for all guests.
Marketing and Outreach Manager Chamindra Goonewardene said: “We are delighted to receive this award. The hotel has a rich heritage of providing our guests with excellent service, and being given this award proves to show that the hotel is doing very well. We have constantly been improving and adapting to market demands, and the awards in the last two years is a clear return in investment.”
TripAdvisor for Business Marketing Vice President Alison Copus said: “TripAdvisor is delighted to celebrate the success of businesses around the globe, from Sydney to Chicago, Sao Paulo to Rome, which are consistently offering TripAdvisor travellers a great customer experience. The Certificate of Excellence provides top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most their customers.”
With the boom in tourism, Hikkaduwa has seen a higher number of tourists coming in. Coral Sands Hotel underwent a significant renovation in 2007, and has since been constantly improving upon its services. Other plans in the works include a stronger emphasis on spa/ayurveda treatments, the building of a larger pool and possible expansion in room capacity. The hotel is set to launch a new website and also to commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2014.
