Hot on the heels of the opening of Citrus Hikkaduwa, a 93-room luxury resort, Citrus Leisure Plc yesterday laid the foundation stone for Citrus Waskaduwa, a 150-room 5-star luxury resort that is expected to be opened towards the end of 2012.
The foundation stone was ceremonially laid by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena at a ceremony which also saw the participation of special invitees, the Director Board of Citrus Leisure as well as other Government officials.
Strategically located in a picturesque and leisure-friendly beachfront property a mere 45 minutes’ from Colombo, Citrus Waskaduwa will offer leisure seekers a thrilling experience centred around the theme of aqua features as well as provide a quick escape for those who seek a quiet dinner away from the bustle of Colombo.
The Waskaduwa property will house a presidential suite and luxurious deluxe rooms as well as standard rooms, a main banquet facility that can accommodate up to 500 people, a 24-hour coffee shop, a BBQ restaurant by the beach as well as a swim-up bar by the pool in addition to the lounge bar and a luxurious 5,000 square foot spa.
The groundbreaking ceremony of Citrus Waskaduwa is yet another reinforcement of the 600-room promise made by Citrus Leisure PLC to build and manage a chain of distinctive hotels and resorts, which will in turn contribute towards the national economic growth of the country via tourism.
Benchmarked against the most coveted in the world, these properties dot Sri Lanka’s coastline in Hikkaduwa, Pasikudah, Kalpitiya and Waskaduwa; each of them as unique as their surroundings, dedicated to bringing happiness to holidaymakers.
