The future of global tourism, especially in Asia, is said to grow and expand over the next decade. Hence, it is imperative that professionals in the tourism and hospitality trades be prepared to face and overcome the challenges that the future will bring for the industry. Colombo School of Arts (CSA), an international school with a mission to inspire and empower students by providing them with a holistic education, is pleased to announce that the school now offers the Cambridge International AS- and A-Level Travel and Tourism as part of its curriculum. This makes CSA the only international school in the country at present that is geared to offer this important, internationally recognised course for A-Level students.
The Travel and Tourism program is a good introduction to the tourism and hospitality trades with the syllabus comprising of practical assignments and assessments based on coursework and written examinations.
CSA Principal Shaleeka Jayalath said, “Travel and Tourism is available as a subject for both O-Level and A-Level students. Children should have a wider choice when it comes to subjects. Through this course we aim to provide a career path in the fields of tourism and hospitality management with a view to raising our students to managerial positions locally and globally. “Through our partnership with IIHE, students of CSA can gain direct admission to the University of Salford to undertake a Bachelor’s Degree program in Tourism Management, with additional concessions on tuition fees, while students considering Hospitality Management can gain entry to the trainee programs of a leading global hotel chain in Sri Lanka.”
She added, “We provide our students with an inspiring curriculum intended to promote each student’s learning, personal growth and development that will in turn help them achieve success in their career goals. CSA has therefore created a nurturing environment coupled with empowered thinking. Therefore the line-up of benefits CSA offers includes customised study programs that offer flexibility when it comes to choosing subject combinations and industry internships with top companies in the country, as well as tutorial and specialised learning support. Career guidance and counselling, two aspects that are often overlooked during a child’s schooling period will also be offered to students with absolutely no additional fee.”
CSA is an international co-educational school affiliated to the Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHE), Sri Lanka’s only institute which is directly associated with the prestigious University of Wales (UK) and the University of Salford, The Awards’ (UK) Business School of the Year.
