Chamber of Tourism and Industry President A.M.Jaufer recently met with Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Sports ChumpolSilapa Archa during his visit to Thailand to attend the UNWTO high-level regional conference on green tourism held within the framework of the 24th joint meeting of UNWTO’s two commissions in Asia.
During the meeting, Jaufer requested the Thai Deputy Prime Minister to support development of religious sites in the Eastern Province as tourism destinations and to name sister towns in Thailand for Panama and Lahugala to be developed as ancient villages.
The Deputy Prime Minister accepting the proposal instructed officials to further study the proposal in order to proceed further while requesting letters of consent from local bodies in Panama and Lahugala in order to name sister towns in Thailand.
