The Amethyst story began in 2011 with its first foundation in Passikudah, Sri Lanka. By March 2012 the resort commenced its operations as one of the first and unique locations for holiday makers in Passikudah. Amethyst Resort’s aim is to be renowned for innovation, service and special culture to help shape the journeys of travellers each and every day. The resort supports this mission by adhering to a set of core values that characterises its culture.

Passikudah beach; which Google Maps refers to as one of the prettiest beaches in the world, is situated about 28km North of Batticaloa town. The Bay of Passikudah is a crescent-moon shaped inlet of shallow water. Set on 10 acres of the bay, the beauty of this Gem of the East Coast is emphasised by a beautiful stream running through it; adorned with lush greenery and mangroves. The simplistic and unintrusive design offers a rustic charm to the property. The key aim was to ensure conservation of greenery in the area and moreover to introduce more foliage as well. The mangroves have been protected and the natural stream has been sanitised.

The resort has 40 rooms in operation which comprise of 18 Sea view Chalets and Stream View Chalets. All rooms are fully equipped with luxury amenities.
