The Wayamba Development Authority signed an agreement with Amaya Leisure PLC to operate the restaurant complex located in Badagamuwa, three kilometres along the Dambulla Road, a picturesque location with local handicraft shops to facilitate the foreign traveller and corporate clientele.

With this new concept, Amaya Leisure Plc will carry out the operation with CDC Conventions and their centre for outdoor catering unit holding the reins. The complex will serve lunch and dinner in the restaurant on the upper floor and the pastry corner on the ground floor which serves sumptuous bakery items and top quality cakes and other sweet products.

The restaurant complex had a soft opening on 2 August 2012 and will sail on until end November for the big launch under the trade name Cafe Forest.

The success of this soft opening saw tourist arrivals to the restaurant complex after Amaya Leisure PLC took over in August this year against August last year under a different management improving from 298 to 500 which is a huge leap and has shown the quality and standards under the new management.

The pastry corner is most popular with every traveller passing through and in the future, once the name becomes a benchmark, Cafe Forest will conquer the wayside business from all corners. According to Amaya sources, Cafe Forest is only a stepping stone towards more of these to come.
