Weligama Bay Marriott Resort and Spa was recognised as a ‘Best Workplace for Millennials’ by the independent analysts at Great Place to Work in Sri Lanka. The resort earned this credential based on the extensive ratings provided by its associates in an anonymous survey conducted by Great Place to Work in Sri Lanka, during 2019-2020.
Associate engagement has emerged as a critical driver of business success in today’s competitive marketplace. Weligama Bay Marriott Resort and Spa strongly believes that the high levels of associate engagement promote the retention of talent, foster customer loyalty and improve organisational performance and stakeholder value.
Besides, Marriott always strives to lead associate satisfaction with many events and celebrations throughout the year. Similarly, to maximise associate performance, Marriott envisions the workplace as an ecosystem of spaces that allows people to have choice, control and empowerment.
Moreover, associates are supported to perform at their best with mutual respect and dignity.
“At Marriott, we continue to work towards understanding what more can be done to improve associate experience, including workplace design, work life balance, celebrating multi-cultural events of significance, enabling more opportunities and various appreciation programs to boost engagement levels amongst all associates.”
“Close to 50% of our workforce is millennials and they all have completed the survey, resulting in a 95% confidence level,” said Marriott General Manager Piyush Tyagi. “We applaud Weligama Bay Marriott Resort and Spa for seeking the employees’ feedback and the opportunity to recognise itself as a best workplace for Millennials,” said Great Place to Work in Sri Lanka CEO Kshanika Ratnayake.
“These ratings measure its capacity to earn its own employees’ trust and create a great workplace. These are critical metrics that anyone considering working for or doing business with Weligama Bay Marriott Resort and Spa should take into account as an indicator of high performance.”
Celebrating its strong roots to local communities, the innovative hospitality leader has been awarded as a Great Place to work for three consecutive years.
Other recent accolades include the Cluster Director of Human Resources Sanchitha Uduwawidane being named the ‘Elite Champion of the Year’, a global award by Marriott International which recognises the best in its category. This is a validation of the resort’s focus on associate wellbeing and development under Marriott’s ‘People First’ core value.
