Marking International Women’s Day on 8 March, Area Director Sri Lanka and Maldives and General Manager of Taj Samudra, Colombo Sarabjeet Singh together with the team had special offerings to salute the associates of Taj Samudra.
It was a fun-filled day for all Taj Samudra Colombo lady associates and the event was held at the Heritage Block, Crystal Building. Nawaloka Hospital Gynecologist Dr Roshan Zaid and Dr. Rifka Hassan graced the occasion by speaking to Taj Associates during the event.
Area Director Sri Lanka and Maldives and General Manager of Taj Samudra Colombo Sarabjeet Singh commented: “I am really proud to address the ladies in this forum at Taj Samudra, Colombo; where the first woman Prime Minister in the world, Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike, also belongs to this country, Sri Lanka.”
Singh further said: “The International Women’s Day started in Iceland and has been recognised all over the world and gender diversity has now become a reality in all the countries.”
He also commented that women are attaining higher positions in most organisations in Sri Lanka and Taj Samudra, Colombo has focused more on gender diversity in the hotel.
Taj Samudra, Colombo has recruited female students from universities in the rural provinces like Sabaragamuwa and Uva Universities and female cadres from the Sri Lanka forces to various services like valet parking, fitness centre, security departments, and the food and beverage department at the hotel.
The hotel has upgraded the female locker rooms facilities and opened the day care centre which is in operation for the children of Taj Samudra employees since 2016.
