The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions/Events (MICE) arm of Sri Lanka Tourism, conducted an education program on 22 October at the SLITHM on ‘Opportunities vs. Challenges in Tourism: A Fresh Perspective’. Nearly 80 industry participants attended this program.
This education program gave an opportunity to the Sri Lankan MICE industry to enhance knowledge of MICE industry and share the best practices of MICE. This session covered the topics: ‘How to sell your destination: tips and tricks’ as well as ‘Safety and security’ which is a contemporary topic applicable to Sri Lanka as well as rest of the world.
The program was presented by Hugo Slimbrouck from Belgium. Slimbrouck is the past president of SITE and also holds positions of Director of Ovation Global DMC, Director and shareholder of MCI Group, Consultancy, and owner of Hospitality Services BVBA. Creating the city convention Bureau in Meeting in Brugge in Belgium in 1995 also adds to his portfolio.
Slimbrouck is a renowned consultant for the meetings industry and a regular speaker at industry events around the globe on topics of sales, storytelling, networking, career development, professional partnerships and other industry related subjects.
