As part of the media campaign launched by the Sri Lanka Consulate General Office in Mumbai following the Easter Sunday Attack, a nine-member media team is visiting Sri Lanka from 28 August to 2 September.
The media team includes journalists from leading Indian national newspapers such as Times of India and Indian Express along with regional newspapers and prominent international tourism journals Lonely Planet and National Geographic.
The objective of the media tour is to give an opportunity for the Indian journalists to visit Sri Lanka and share their firsthand opinion and experience to the Indian public especially on the improved security situation in Sri Lanka, four months after the Easter attack. Their program is designed to meet these objectives in addition to visits to Galle which is the most favoured destination for Indian tourists, Ramayana sites and the Geoffrey Bawa Country Estate.
Consul General Chamari Rodrigo had a briefing with the media team on 26 August at the Consulate prior to their departure to Sri Lanka.
The media tour organised by the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Mumbai together with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) comprises the first group of journalists from India visiting Sri Lanka under the media campaign to promote Sri Lanka as a safe destination for Indian tourists following the Easter attack.
