Japan Airlines (JAL) has unveiled plans to establish a new low-cost carrier (LCC) for the international market.
The new LCC will specifically feature international routes with medium- to long-haul flights.
The company will be a consolidated subsidiary of the JAL Group and will operate flights from the Narita International Airport near Tokyo to select destinations in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
In the first stages of its establishment, the carrier will operate two Boeing 787-8 aircrafts and is targeting to launch commercial flights from the summer of 2020, when Narita Airport plans to complete enhancements to its facilities.
The name of the new LCC is yet to be announced but there are tentative plans to establish the company by July.
