The 31st Annual General Meeting of the IATA Agents Association of Sri Lanka (IATA-AASL) was held on Friday, 13 September, in Melbourne, Australia. 137 participants attended this meeting.
Aitken Spence Travels General Manager (Outbound) Nishantha Senaveratne was elected as President of the Association for the year 2019/2020. Skyways Travel Solutions Ltd. Managing Director Tilak Wickramasinghe was elected as Vice President of the Association for the year 2019/2020.
Senaveratne also served as the President of the national travel agents body in the country – the Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka (TAASL) in 2014. Both IATA-AASL and TAASL are approved Associations of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Presently, Senaveratne serves as the Vice President of the Sri Lanka-Greater Mekong Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (formerly known as Sri Lanka-Greater Mekong Subregion Business Council and Sri Lanka-Vietnam Business Council) which was inaugurated on 8 June 2010. The main objective of the Business Council is the further expansion of trade, investment and tourism between Sri Lanka and the Greater Mekong: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
