Aitken Spence Hotels Group Skills Development Chef Dimuthu Kumarasinghe took Sri Lanka cuisine to the world yet again, being among the 17 culinary experts handpicked to showcase global cuisine at the Da Nang International Food Festival 2019 in Vietnam.
Chef Kumarasinghe, popularly known as Chef DK is no stranger to the global culinary world having represented Sri Lanka and Aitken Spence Hotels in numerous events and exhibitions. Reserving the honour of being the only chef in the world to win nine individual gold medals in two Culinary Olympics, Chef DK is on a wide selection of culinary boards in an honorary capacity whilst being a familiar face in the judging panels of varied competitions in the global industry. His contribution to the local and international industry includes his voluntary training of a large number of recruits and ensuring those with less opportunity will receive the due recognition across a multitude of platforms.
His recent invitation to be part of the Da Nang International Food Festival was to share his culinary wizardry with the world. The event, which was held from 2 to 6June serves as a platform for tourists to enjoy a variety of international cuisine prepared by famous chefs. This year, the highly acclaimedChef DK was invited to present his culinary skills at the festival and collaborate with local chefs to prepare local Vietnamese cuisine.
The Da Nang International Food Festivalis known to be one of the most anticipated cuisine events in Vietnam, connecting both local and international gastronomy. The festival is hosted annually with the aim to promote and spread the tourism brand of Da Nang worldwide. World-class chefsthat are members of the World Chef Association and Head Chefs at top restaurants and hotels in their home countriesshowcase their culinary expertise. This year, along with Chef Dimuthu, the festival was graced by celebrated chefs from the USA, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Mexico, Sweden, Lebanon, India, Greece, China and Turkey.
