MAS Intimates Managing Director Dian Gomes on Wednesday won the prestigious CIMA Business Icon of 2012 whilst three young professionals grabbed CIMA Star awards.
In his award acceptance speech, Gomes said, “I am honored. I’ve won many awards before. CIMA is a great brand, the premium brand in this country. Most of the corporate leaders come from CIMA.”
CIMA President Gulzari Lal Babber gave away awards to three CIMA Stars of 2012 as well. Brandix Lanka Chief Financial Office Hasitha Premaratne won the gold award for CIMA Star while Ceylon Tobacco Company Sri Lanka and Maldives Head of Brands Thusitha Abayasekara won the silver award for CIMA Star and MAS Intimates Strategy Planning Manager and Executive Assistant Anne Dilhara won the bronze award.
The panel of judges was headed by Dr. Harsha Cabral PC.
The criteria for the CIMA Star 2012 award was given based on personal achievements, academic achievements, career advancement, contributions made towards the business and various other contributions. It recognized outstanding achievement of professionals less than 40 years of age.
The criteria for the Business Icon 2012 looked at the similar features of CIMA Star as well as innovation, employer relations, contributions made to the community, visionary among other features.
Speaking at the dinner, Babber said, “CIMA is the only institute in the world that delivers management accountancy to the best. There is one thing that CIMA has in mind right around the world that is helping people and businesses to succeed. Not only businesses, but people individually also.”
Babber is on a weeklong official visit to Sri Lanka.
