Zahira Sports Festival 2015 by Group of 90s’ tomorrow

The Group of 90’s of Zahira College, Colombo will hold its annual Sports Festival for the ninth consecutive year on Sunday, 11 October, at Zahira College Grounds from 7:30 a.m. onwards. 

The Organising Committee has lined up several events for the old boys as well as for the present students of the college. This year too there will be a six-a-side softball cricket tournament, six-a-side soccer tournament, tag rugby tournament, and an exhibition soccer match between Sri Lankan Legends and Zahira Legends. 

The finals of cricket, soccer and tag rugby are scheduled at 4 p.m. and the exhibition soccer match is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. There will also be a karate display by the Zahira College Karate Team at 3:30 p.m. The objective of organising a festival of this nature is primarily to foster goodwill and fellowship among the old boys and also to generate funds for the development of the college infrastructure and students’ educational and extra-curricular activities.

Deshamanya Prof. M.T.A. Furkhan, former Principal of the College, will grace the event as Chief Guest.  The Main Sponsor of this Sports Festival is Banu Manpower – one of the leading manpower consultants in Sri Lanka.
