West Indies Women take 2-0 lead in T20I series against Sri Lanka Women

The second T20I between West Indies Women and Sri Lanka Women was played on Wednesday at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, West Indies Women scored129-4. Led by Stafanie Taylor, West Indies Women posted a quick fire 50 before the fall of its first wicket, Juliana Nero.



Nero smashed five fours before being bowled for 29. The wickets of Deandra Dottin (1) and Shanel Daley (2) followed in quick succession, with Daley retiring hurt in the 11th over. Stafanie Taylor top scored with 62 off only 49 balls, including six fours and one six.

Chandima Gunaratne was the leading wicket taker for Sri Lanka Women, taking two for 20.

Getting off to a shaky start, Sri Lanka Women lost openers Yashodha Mendis for two in the third over and Prasadani Weerakkodi for six in the fourth, bringing Deepika Rasangika and Inoka Galagedara to the crease.

Scoring quickly, they put on a 43-run partnership before Rasangika was bowled by Taylor for 39.Galagedara was run out on 25 shortly after, the first of three run outs. Sri Lanka Women continued to score well, but lost wickets regularly, and the team was only able to score 122-9 off its 20 overs. WestIndies Women won by 7 runs to take a 2-0 lead on the five-match series.

Staphanie Taylor took three for 23, and won the Player of the Match award.
