The UTE-CAT Sri Lanka Open Golf Championship, co-Sponsored by CML-MTD Construction and Heladiv Foods, ended round three with a cluster of five pros bunched behind the leader Vijitha Bandara poised to challenge the championship, going into the final round today, at the RCGC.
The third day posed a challenge with the extended tee-boxes and tight pin positions. The combination resulted in a tough day at work overall, with only one sub-par round returned by the pro from Nuwara Eliya, K. Prabagaran who shot a 2 under par 69. Vijitha Bandara had a 74 (3 over par), Anura Rohana (even par), Lalith Kumara (1 over par), and overnight second place Tissa Chandradasa remained 7 strokes behind the leader with a 3 over par 74.
The ladies took to the course for the Pam Fernando Challenge Trophy and the seasoned lady golfers Niloo Jayathilake and Neesha Nirmalalingam shared the lead for the gross aggregate on 84 whilst veteran Swen Selvaratnam was three strokes behind on 87. In the nett score aggregate division Nonake Namie from Japan returned a 69 to lead by 6 strokes from Niloo and Neesha.
The final day’s play commences at 7 a.m. today at the RCGC Ridgways Course. The prize giving ceremony will be held by around 3 p.m. with the Minister of Sports in attendance, along with the sponsors UTE-CAT, CML-MTD Construction and HVA Foods.
