Sri Lanka’s legendary paceman Chaminda Vaas decided to step aside from his role as fast bowling coach of the national cricket team, citing political interference as the reason behind his decision.
Vaas revealed that his departure would also serve to sever all present and future ties with the sport’s local administrators. Vaas, a World Cup-winner and one of Sri Lanka’s most vaunted bowlers, was given the task of shepherding the progress of Sri Lanka’s pace bowling unit in February 2013.
