Trinity College, Kandy awarded the Cricket Lion to five of its most successful cricketers during the past cricket season.
Among them were opening batsmen Nushan Weerasinghe and Dilanja Jayalath and No. 3 batsman Shanogeeth Shanmuganthan who all crossed the 1,000-run mark last season. Two bowlers who took more than 100 wickets too were awarded the Cricket Lion. They were Lahiru Kumara and Duvindu Thilakaratne. Kumara represented the Sri Lanka Under-19 team on their tour to England and was later selected to the Lankan unit during their One-Day series against the touring Australians. Duvindu is the son of former Sri Lankan cricketer Hashan Thilakaratne.
