Trinity College’s juniors continued their good run at the all-island inter-school rugby encounter which took place in Colombo recently.
The Under 12 ‘A’ team captained by Gimhan Karunaratne emerged runner-up to Isipathana in the cup final. The final encounter ended in a 5-5 draw but isipathana, due to a higher tally of tries, won the trophy. Trinity beat Royal Panadura (40-0), St. Anthony’s (15-0), Science (15-0) and St. Peter’s (5-0). The Under 12 ‘B’ team, captained by Binuka Bandara, became champions beating Wesley (10-0), Prince of Wales (40-0) and Zahira (30-0)
The side was coached by former Vidyartha and Kandy player Mohamed Faizal with Ishanka Abeysinghe, Mahesha Gunaratne and Udalagama forming the assistant coaching staff. Chandani Wijewardena continued her good work as Teacher-in-Charge of both sides.
