Former England captain and commentator Tony Greig has revealed that he is suffering from lung cancer.
Greig was initially diagnosed with bronchitis in May this year and then gathered further knowledge during the Australia-Pakistan series. Greig was quoted as saying to Australia’s Sunday Telegraph that he would undergo surgery to ascertain the extent of the illness.
“I have had a few scrapes in my life and this is another one,” the South Africa-born Greig, 66 was quoted as saying to the Sunday Telegraph.
“Vivian (his wife) and I are going to put the boxing gloves on and fight this like we’ve never fought anything before.”
At this stage Greig informed that he is not aware of his commentating commitments for this summer.
“At the moment it is totally up in the air. My priority, 100 percent, is my family. They will come first,” said Greig.
