TFC to sponsor Havelock Sports Club for 2012

At a media briefing held on 2 March at Havelock Sports Club, The Finance Company PLC (TFC) announced that they will continue its sponsorship of the club for the year 2012. The Chairman and Directors of TFC were present at this occasion with officials of Havelock Sports Club.

Continuing on its initiative to play a key role in developing the domestic rugby football scene, TFC which has been making significant headway in its corporate endeavours has once again come forward to promote local rugby by being the proud patrons of Havelock Sports Club for the second year running.

The club is the first rugby football club in Sri Lanka with an illustrious history of 97 years. Quite significant is the fact that TFC itself is the first registered finance company in the country, having established its operations in 1940. The highlight of this partnership is that both these institutions are pioneers in their respective fields.Having being placed eighth in the local tournaments in 2010, the team made great strides to reach third place in the season of 2011. Team training for the upcoming season has already commenced, and Havelock’s have yet again focused on acquiring international players to strengthen their overall line up. Currently they are in negotiations to obtain the services of three foreign players who have each performed at national level in their respective countries. The continuing sponsorship and support by The Finance would no doubt play a pivotal part in the club vying for the championship position this year.
