Shafraz Junaid and his co-driver Akhry Ameer led the charge from the start to conquer the podium and enable a win for Team ProMech at the Colombo Challenge Rally (Leg 2) 2015 concluded at the Speedrome Karting Centre, Kotte on Sunday.
The duo completed the 317Km containing themselves to a mere 2 debit points on stage 1 from Kotte to Pannala and 12 debit points on the return leg in stage 2 nursing a suspension damage ahead of runners-up Sam Chandrasoma co-driven by S.K. Methunsanka of Team Ironman who finished with a total of 20 debit points.
Sam Chandrasoma also won the overall championship by virtue of his participation on both legs of the rally and being adjudged the winner of the first leg.
A total of 12 rally prepared vehicles and three non-rally prepared vehicles started the rally to savour the tarmac and gravel terrains of Gampaha, Kurunegala and Puttalam districts. The TSD (Time, Speed & Duration) or regularity rally requires the competitors to traverse a specified and grueling route sticking to a specific timing and avoid accruing debit points.
S.T. Samarasinghe co-driven by Danushka Suraweera won the non-rally prepared category with a total of 194 debits while Janaki Allahapperuma co-driven by her daughter S.K. Amanda were adjudged the winners of the ladies category driving a rally prepared Maruti Alto car.
The Colombo Motor Sports Club organised two-stage overnight rally comprising seven hours of driving thrill was a much looked forward to event among the enthusiasts as the final major rally event for the year.
The final overall winners was as follows:

2.Sam Chandrasoma/S.K. Methunsanka 20 debits
3.Izvan Ahamat/S.K. Sisal 32 debits
4.Nalaka Gunawardena/Thiwanka Gunawardena 41 debits
5.Buddhi Gunasekera/Kumudika Gunasekera 71 debits
