Chennai, Aug 6(ANI): Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth is confident that the national team will bounce back in the ongoing Test series against England.
“There are times when the team undergoes a lot of tough times and probably this particular series is the one like that where we have lost the first two Test matches. But, I’m confident that this team will come back,” Srikkanth told reporters in Chennai.
“Don’t forget there have been a lot of situation like this in the past when the team has been down and fought back very well,” he added.
Srikkanth further said that the return of experienced players-Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan-would strengthen the World No.1 team.
“Don’t forget that we have Sehwag, Gambhir and Zaheer back in the team. I think their experience will help us to fight back strongly and do well in the next two Test matches,” he added.
Sehwag had missed India’s previous series in the West Indies and the first two Tests of the ongoing series because of his shoulder problem.
Gambhir had missed the second Test due to an elbow injury.
India is currently 2-0 down in the four-match series.
The World No.1 team had lost the first at Lord’s by 196 runs and the second Test at Trent Bridge by 319 runs. (ANI)
